Beginning with a 9AM kaffeeklatsch that served up a plethora of delicious donuts, fresh java, and stimulating conversation, the Prairie Village Arts Council (PVAC) presented its Second Annual Art Walk on Saturday, April 9th.

The Prairie Village Arts Council is pleased to present the art of Randall Bennett for what we hope will be our final Virtual Art Show pending our grand re-opening of the R.G. Endres Gallery in October.

While walking at Franklin Park from July 9 to July 18, you’ll be able to read two children’s books displayed along the sidewalk. Strolling in one direction, you’ll see the pages of the children’s book Mouse Mess by Linnea Riley mounted on successive posters. Reversing direction, you can peruse the pages of Rachel Bright and Jim Field’s book Koala Who Could.

It was an honor to serve as juror for this very fine show. I was asked to select 75 pieces from more than 450 entries for the show. Deciding was not easy but the show had a breadth of styles, themes and media I found very appealing. Here are my thoughts and comments on the winning entries.

Prairie Village and its Arts Council are dedicated to presenting excellent arts programming for our citizenry — even in these COVID-19 pandemic-ridden times. While the R.G. Endres Gallery remains closed for our normal 2nd Friday art receptions and monthly art shows, we have hung work from our own members and alumni to be enjoyed by visitors to City Hall.

The Prairie Village Arts Council was pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 Art of Photography show this month.

Whenever school starts again, six-year old Sully Nine will be driven to school by a Prairie Village Police D.A.R.E. officer. He can pick out anything worth $50.00 at the Learning Tree toy store, and treat himself and his family to $20.00 worth of ice cream at the Summer Salt ice cream parlor. Sully earned all these rewards by winning the Sidewalk Art Contest sponsored by the City of Prairie Village.
