Frequently asked questions
Our artist receptions are primarily held at the R.G. Endres Gallery in the Prairie Village City Hall at 7700 Mission Road. These are special after-hours events open to the public.
Occasionally we will host a special event or artist reception at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Avenue, but we will clearly advertise those details when that is the case.
Our receptions and events have almost always been FREE, and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
Prairie Village Arts Council is volunteer-led and primarily funded through the City of Prairie Village's Transient Guest Tax*, and our events are a community benefit. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, though, and we do take donations if you are so inclined.
*The Transient Guest Tax is a local tax applied to guests staying in hotels or other lodging facilities (primarily the Meadowbrook Inn) within the City of Prairie Village, KS.
More than anything, we want you to be comfortable when you join us for a reception or event, so dress in a way that works for you. Some people love dressing up and going out—if that’s you, do it and you won’t be the only one, we promise. If you prefer to be more casual, then you probably won’t be the only one dressed casually, either.
In short, you do you, and we’re just glad you’re joining us.
There is no need to show up early for our events. They are come and go as you please, for the most part*, and the doors open at the time listed on the event page.
*When we are celebrating a juried show, awards are usually presented at 8pm, but that's the only time-specific part of our events at this time.
