The Prairie Village Arts Council hosted the annual Art of Photography show in May and June at City Hall, and as usual, the photo show drew an excited crowd on opening night. Juror Ron Berg perused the hundreds of entries for the show and selected a fascinating slate of winners in several categories.
Best in Show went to Kevin VanEmburgh for his simple, elegant piece "Cava--As a Riso Print." This award comes with a $750 cash prize.

The top prize in the People and Portraits of People category went to Paul McMillian for his piece, "The Time Traveler." Amanda Herrera and Anne Nye each earned Honorable Mention.
First Prize in the Architecture, Landscapes, Nature and Wildlife category was won by Dennis Hedberg for his photo, "Snowbound." Honorable mentions went to Don James and Jim Thomas.
First Prize in the category of Abstracts, Non-traditional, Collage, and Highly Digitally Enhanced went to Tom Arnhold for "Kansas City Perspective." Richard Faulkner and Hattie Kennedy earned Honorable Mention.
The Prairie Village Arts Council also awards a People's Choice award based on the votes of viewers. This year the prize went to Will Moulthrop for Bridges; Missouri River.

You still have a chance to see the winners and the rest of the juried artist submissions in the Art of Photography show--it's up through July 11 - including on Independence Day until 2pm - at the Prairie Village Municipal Building on Mission Road.
