Future of the Arts 2020 is the R.G. Endres Gallery 6th annual juried competition for grades 1 - 12. The exhibition runs during the month of January with an awards Gala Reception on Friday, January 10th, 2020 at 6:00 PM.
Eligibility: Open to all residents the Kansas City metro area and surrounding suburban cities, for children, grades 1-12 who attend public, private and home schools.
Eligible Artwork:
Multiple prizes: Art scholarships, supplies or enhancements totaling $3000 in value. Including four $300.00 college scholarships for the grade 10 - 12.
Designated age groups those in are grades 1st-3rd, 4th-6th, 7th-9th, 10th-12th.
Gift awards will be given to winners of each age group.
Entry Details: For 2D and 3D art, one entry is allowed per artist, but 3 can be submitted. For performances, a short two minute video of the performance is required. For literature, a photo of the complete short story, poem, etc., is required. A fee of $5 per student entry. (For entry financial assistance, please contact our grant administrator at [email protected]) Each student may enter art as many times as they like (starting from scratch with your enrollment each time, (each with a $5.00 fee), with the understanding that only one piece per artist will be selected for the final round of judging.
The final adjudication round for top winners of the 2D and 3D art will take place after the show is hung. The performance final round will be adjudicated LIVE on the night of the Gala Reception on January 10th, 2020.
If your art is chosen:Being accepted int to the show is an achievement on its own, you will want to be present at the Gala Reception, January 11, as all participants will receive an award and the best in each category will receive a special award recognition. All tangible art work MUST be for sale. The sales commission to the R. G. Endres Gallery is 30%. Prices listed on the entry are binding and cannot be changed after submission to the show.
~ Performance and Theatrical Arts that are chosen:Your performance entry photo will be shown on TV monitors throughout the Gala Celebration. Your attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended. If you are chosen among the top two in your category, you will be asked to perform LIVE on the night of the Gala Reception where the juror will choose the winner that night.
~ Literature that is chosen: Please arrange your work to fit on one page and submit a photograph of your typed manuscript and submit as a single JPEG image.
The top work in each age group will read their piece LIVE at the Gala Reception.
~ 2-Dimensional and 3-D Art that is chosen:You will bring your 2D and 3D art to Prairie Village City Hall on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2020. Your 2-D artwork will need to be safely FRAMED with a wire hanger across the back. Anything other than a canvas painting or a relief collage (bumpy 2-D art), will need a glass (or Plexi-glass) covering. If it is a photograph, there will need to be a small space between the photo and the glass, usually provided by a matt or "spacers."
If it is acrylic or oil painting on a wrapped canvas, and is NOT framed, then the SIDES of the canvas will need to be painted.
